Brazil: According to Tarcísio de Freitas, governor of the state of São Paulo, the Chinese manufacturer could consider using the facility of the former IESA, which is currently under judicial recovery, in the city of Araraquara. A decision is expected in the next few months. As it was announced in 2024, the investment in the project could reach $1 bln.

Earlier this year, CRRC won a tender for 44 trains for the São Paulo metro, with assembly to take place in the state.

Other orders include 15 intercity and 7 commuter trains for the São Paulo-Campinas line, 24 trains for the Belo Horizonte metro and passenger coaches for the Vale mining company. Previously, CRRC produced locomotives and EMUs for Brazilian operators (pictured).

Among train builders with production facilities in Brazil are the local Marcopolo, Alstom, Wabtec, CAF, Hyundai Rotem and Progress Rail.
