India: The company, which operates under the country’s Ministry of Defence, has released a video showcasing the upcoming site in the state of Madhya Pradesh, featuring 3D visualisations of workshops and a testing line. The plant will specialise in manufacturing metro cars and electric trains.
Construction of the facility, named BRAHMA, began on 10 August on a 60-hectare site. According to BEML, the investment will amount to INR 18 bln (approximately $205.3 mln).
Initially, the plant will produce 125–200 vehicles per year, with over 1,000 vehicles produced annually already within five years of launch. The facility is projected to create 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.

BRAHMA will become BEML’s second rolling stock manufacturing plant — the company currently produces trains in Bengaluru. This expansion forms part of the national Make in India programme, aimed at developing domestic manufacturing capabilities and technologies.
