Canada: In the first quarter 2025, the company expects to receive an order for its Canadian site to overhaul and modernise 181 double-deck Bi-Level series VIII coaches for push-pull trains. The renewed rolling stock will be added to the fleet of GO Transit, an Alstom-operated passenger transport service in the province of Ontario.

The new framework agreement worth approximately €340 mln has been signed with Metrolinx, the transportation agency in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. According to Alstom, the contract will support 250 jobs until at least 2030.

For a long time, the future of the former Bombardier Transportation site in Thunder Bay was unclear. Last year, it reportedly employed 500 people, down from 1,300 in the 2010s. This year, the plant will complete the overhaul of 94 Bi-Level Series VIII and delivery of 60 Flexity trams to Toronto.
