India: The DD News channel showed in detail the vehicle’s interior, driver’s cab, WC facility, and inter-car gangway.
The first 12-car Vande Metro was produced at the plant in Kapurthala, part of the national operator Indian Railways, in spring. Its testing has begun this month, with the dates of test completion and launch being undisclosed.
This modification, compared to the traditional Vande Bharat, is designed for 100–250 km short inter-city and regional routes. The train will have from four to 16 cars and an operational speed of 130 km/h.

Differing in assembly, it will have a wider aisle between seats so one car will accommodate 280 people, of which 100 seated. Vande Metro has also automatic doors, fully sealed inter-car gangways, WCs, AC and early smoke detection systems with 14 sensors in each car.
