Russia: According to the plant’s parent company Sinara Group, the acceptance and homologation tests on the VNIIZhT railway research institute’s test track are scheduled to be undertaken till late March 2025.
Special attention will be given to checking how the Russian-made traction equipment works during the power supply shift from DC to AC catenary and vice-versa.
Becoming a part of Sinara Group’s rolling stock portfolio, the new train is going to replace the dual-system Lastochka EMUs (the ES1 and ES1P models) previously produced by Ural Locomotives in partnership with Siemens Mobility. The manufacturer states that the new five-car trainset will accommodate 386 passengers seated as well as provide more dedicated spaces for people with reduced mobility.
Further plans for 2025-2026 include design of catenary-battery trains based on the Finist platform, the ES105A with a range of 125 km in battery mode and the double-deck ES106. Besides, Sinara Group’s eight-car ES104 EMU is also going to be certified soon.
