UK: The first 6 five-car electro-diesel Class 805 Evero trainsets started operation between London, Birmingham, Chester and other cities.
The launch had been scheduled for the previous year but was delayed due to the problems with static testing. The new vehicles are to replace a fleet of Voyager DMUs, produced by Bombardier in 2001–2002.
In 2019, the First Trenitalia operator, which owns Avanti West Coast, ordered 13 Class 805 and 10 seven-car Class 807 trains, based on the A-train platform, for €410 mln. The seven-car vehicle has 453 seats, whereas the five-car one obtains 301 seats. Both trainsets are designed to operate at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. They are being assembled at the plant in Newton Aycliffe and will be put into service when ready.
