Türkiye: The eight-car trainset with aluminium bodyshell has been manufactured at the state-owned manufacturer’s plant in Sakarya. With dynamic testing due to start shortly, the train is to be certified for compliance with European TSI requirements.
The rolling stock has been developed on the basis of a previously designed Türasaş model for a maximum speed of 160 km/h. To enable higher speeds, a number of design changes have been introduced and the motor has been upgraded. Both 160 km/h and 225 km/h trains use traction system, train control and management system, diagnostic system developed and produced by Aselsan.

A total of 14 such trains are to be produced between 2026 and 2028, with the production localisation level of 65%. A dedicated 15 000 m² manufacturing complex is currently under construction at the Sakarya plant for this purpose.
Turkish minister of transport and infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu earlier announced that Türasaş set a new record for rolling stock production last year. The manufacturer built 20 E5000 main line electric locomotives, six battery shunting locomotives, eight regional EMUs and six urban EMUs, as well as 100 UAIS flat wagons for transporting military equipment.
This year Türasaş has also received record state funding totalling TRY 11 bln (€213 mln), an increase of 256% compared with the 2025 investment programme. Of this, TRY 454.9 mln (€8.7 mln) has been allocated for production of the 225 km/h trains. A further TRY 476.3 mln (€9.2 mln) is earmarked for development of a family of six-axle locomotives, TRY 88 mln (€1.6 mln) for the design of passenger coaches with a panoramic glass roof, and TRY 30 mln (€0.5 mln) for the development of a hydrogen locomotive.
