Türkiye: The four-car train is currently being assembled at the plant in Sakarya. Türasaş CEO Mustafa Metin Yazır has stated that the production of the train is expected to be completed in November, following which testing will commence.
The train with an aluminium car body is claimed to be able to accommodate up to 1,000 passengers and to have a maximum speed of 120 km/h. Each TSI-compliant vehicle, with a length of 96 m, will be equipped with a traction drive, control and diagnostic systems manufactured by the rail transport technologies institute TÜBİTAK RUTE.
The current production plan is to manufacture eight trains by the end of the year. The €47 mln order for the trains for the Gaziray commuter rail line was placed by the municipality of Gaziantep.
Türasaş emphasises that the new train is an entirely domestic development. Türkiye is developing its rolling stock production sector, with the country already manufacturing regional trains and electric locomotives. Additionally, a high-speed train capable of operating at 225 km/h is in development.
