Russia: An eleven-car trainset is undergoing a cycle of technical and running trials. Specialists are verifying the performance of traction and braking systems, high-voltage equipment, pantographs, and air-conditioning units.
Following completion of shakedown trials this spring, five such trains are scheduled for service entry on the Moscow-Yaroslavl line. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin previously stated that a further 92 trainsets are planned for renewal on this route by 2030. Since last summer, 15 Ivolga 4.0 trains have entered service there.
The upgraded EP2DM units, produced by the TMH plant in Demikhovo, feature modifications to both exterior and interior. The bodyshell sports a new livery, and head cars are fitted with additional LED headlights. The interior adopts a mint-grey colour scheme. New seats, akin to those in Ivolga 4.0 trains, feature revised layouts: 2+2 in head cars and 3+2 in intermediate cars.
Additional vertical and horizontal handrails have been installed. LCD navigation displays are mounted above doors in vestibules, where leaning pads have been installed. Head cars provide bicycle parking with e-scooter charging facilities, plus dedicated spaces for wheelchair users.
Sanitary facilities have undergone significant upgrades. Toilet modules now include sensor taps, soap dispensers, hand dryers, impact-resistant mirrors, and changing tables for passengers with infants.
