Denmark, Germany: Since early November, two locomotive-hauled trainsets have been running on the Copenhagen–Hamburg line, served by the Danish national operator DSB.

The rolling stock has been recently approved for operation in both countries. Hauled by Siemens Mobility’s Vectron electric locomotives, the trains provide passenger service under the EuroCity brand at a maximum speed of 200 km/h, while their design speed is 230 km/h.

Depending on a passenger flow, a trainset may comprise from 9 to 15 first- and second-class coaches with a maximum seating capacity of 492 people. The coaches are low-floor, apart from two end ones. In the short term, one of the end coaches will be replaced by a driving trailer to ensure push-pull operation.

In 2020 and 2023, DSB ordered 16 Talgo 230 trains. The rolling stock is reportedly made of 95% recyclable materials.
