Germany: The Swiss manufacturer has unveiled its railbus in Berlin and will exhibit it at InnoTrans 2024. The single-car railbus with an axle load of less than 18 tf is designed to replace diesel vehicles on non-electrified European routes with low traffic.
According to the manufacturer, the RS ZERO is a successor of the Stadler RS1 railbuses built between 1996 and 2013. Around 500 of these vehicles were delivered to Germany and Czechia. The new railbus, the RS ZERO, will be available in single- and double-car versions, capable of accommodating 70 and 150 people, respectively, and with two types of traction: hydrogen and catenary-battery.

The interior is said to use environmentally friendly materials, with side panels are made from recycled plastic bottles.
Stadler’s portfolio now includes two battery hybrid trains – FLIRT Akku and FLIRT Trimodal – and the hydrogen FLIRT H2 train.
