Azerbaijan: The national operator ADY has launched the new FLIRT trains on the route from Baku to Agstafa. The vehicles designated DŞ1 were delivered at the end of 2023 and have passed tests.
Each 107 m long train, comprising five cars and a traction module, has a maximum speed of 160 km/h and an operational speed of 140 km/h. There are 270 first- and second-class seats, a WC, and a bar in a DMU.

In 2019, Stadler was contracted to supply four DMUs and six EMUs, with a total value of €115 mln. The latter are scheduled for delivery this year. The production was initially planned at Stadler’s site in Fanipol, Belarus. However, due to the sanctions pressure, it was relocated to Siedlce in Poland.
Previously, ADY had placed minor orders with Stalder for passenger coaches with automatic track-gauge change and double-deck KISS trains.
