The Swiss manufacturer reported this in its financial results for the first half of 2025. The company also noted that it accounts for half of all battery-powered or hydrogen-powered trains ordered in Europe.
The base model with energy storage is the FLIRT Akku. Additionally, the UK receives the hybrid FLIRT Trimodal model. The hydrogen-powered range includes the FLIRT H2 trains with fuel cells and the RS ZERO with a hydrogen internal combustion engine. Overall, Stadler offers a wide variety of powertrain configurations.
The most popular model is the FLIRT Akku BEMU. In April, German operator DB Regio ordered 19 two-car sets of this model, and in August Danish operator Lokaltog exercised an option to purchase an additional 10 such trains. Furthermore, in February, Stadler secured a contract to supply eight battery trains to Chicago, also based on the FLIRT Akku.
