Sweden: The Czech manufacturer has won a framework tender to supply 31 electric multiple units.
The base contract with Stockholm’s public transport authority, Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, covers 16 two-car trainsets. The total value of the contract, including options, spare parts supply, and driver training, is estimated at €230 mln.

Each two-car train, 72 metres in length, will accommodate around 250 passengers, including 94 seated. All bogies will be powered, drawing traction from a DC overhead supply of 750/1,500 V. The operator will be able to form three-car units to increase capacity during peak hours. The rolling stock will feature an air-conditioning system using propane as a refrigerant.

Škoda Group plans to deliver the first cars in 2029, with entry into service on Stockholm’s suburban line expected before the beginning of 2030. The new trains will replace the SL C10/C11 units, which have been in operation for more than 50 years.
