Czechia: The two-car 15Ev3 battery-electric multiple unit was unveiled two weeks ago at the Rail Business Days in Ostrava.
Two trains, now built, are being tested at VUZ, the Velim test centre.
The rolling stock was produced in 2022 on the base of the single-deck 7Ev RegioPanter train, a traditional Škoda Group’s EMU manufactured since 2011.
The 15Ev3 is equipped with four motors 340 kW each and three battery units on the roof. This enables the train to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h when powered by 25 kV AC and 3 kV DC catenary, and 120 km/h in battery mode with a range of 80 km. The train can accommodate 323 passengers and has 140 seats.
The Czech national operator ČD has already placed an order for 19 trains, with four to be deployed in the Moravian-Silesian region.
