South Korea, Czechia: Škoda Group has signed memoranda of understanding with two subsidiaries of the South Korean holding, the rolling stock producer Hyundai Rotem and the car manufacturer Hyundai Motor.
The first document implies cooperation in international projects, including those related to the supply of high-speed trains.
The other one provides for the possible transfer of hydrogen fuel cell technologies developed by Hyundai Motor to Škoda Group. In addition, the memorandum envisages the companies to conduct feasibility studies for fuel cell system applications.
Worth mentioning is that Škoda Group has no experience in producing high-speed EMUs and hydrogen fuel cell trainsets. Previously, the company showed interest in amalgamation with Talgo, which possess such experience, but the proposal was declined.
Škoda Group and Hyundai Rotem supply together electric locomotives to Tanzania. The Czech company produces wheel sets and electrical equipment for these vehicles.
