Germany: The manufacturer placed an interiorless mock-up of the upcoming vehicle head car in the indoor part of the Messe Berlin Exhibition Centre.

In summer 2023, a more than €2 bln contract with Deutsche Bahn was signed to supply 90 trainsets of this type for the S-Bahn urban rail system. The first EMUs are scheduled for launch in late 2028.

Each 13-car trainset will accommodate 1,841 passengers, having 400 seats along with additional 80 folding ones. The cars will have five sections for pushchairs, bicycles and luggage. The EMUs will have a 7.8 MW power rating with a maximum operational speed of 160 km/h.

The trainset is reportedly equipped with silicon carbide (SiC) traction inverters, oil-free transformers and intelligent software, allowing to reduce maintenance costs.
