Germany, Czechia: Trains from two European car manufacturers based on alternative traction enter service.

Passengers of NEB, a public transportation provider in the Berlin area, can now travel in seven hydrogen-powered Mireo Plus H trains from Siemens Mobility. A two-car train with a 1.7 MW power plant can accommodate 282 people and has a top speed of 140 km/h with an acceleration of 1.1 m/s². With a refuelling time of 15 minutes, this modification offers an improved range of 1,200 km. The first Mireo Plus H was unveiled back in 2022.

Four 15Ev3 trains from the Czech manufacturer, powered by catenary and batteries, have entered service on CD’s network in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the country. The remaining 15 two-car vehicles already ordered will enter commercial service by the end of 2026. The rolling stock features a top speed of 120 km/h on electrified lines and a range of 80 km. Each train can carry 232 passengers. The first train was unveiled in June this year.
