Russia: The diagnostic centre on rails was unveiled last week at the Yaroslavsky station in Moscow. The train, which will be staffed by 90 people, is scheduled to commence operation in September. It will serve 59 remote settlements in eight regions.
Its producer, the TMH plant in Tver, received authorisation for operation from the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare and Social Development in June and certified the train for compliance with TR EAEU 001/2011.
The train comprises 14 coaches, eight of which are designated for diagnostic, medical treatment and surgical procedures, accommodation of medical personnel, patient registration and laboratory assessment. The remaining coaches are designed to meet a variety of supportive needs, including rest, showering, accommodation of administrative personnel, and a power coach, the 61-4551.
In 1993, the first Russian hospital train was launched, comprising refurbished passenger coaches. Later, four such trains were built.
