Russia: As communicated to the business media Delovoy Peterburg by Sinara Group, the Engineering Centre of Railway Transport, a joint venture between RZD and STM, is currently developing the train.

The preliminary design of rolling stock with a design speed of 360 km/h had been completed earlier. In March, Russian Railways and Ural Locomotives signed a contract for the first two trains. They are now preparing to ink another contract, this time for serial deliveries under leasing with the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK). Previously, Russian Railways announced that the completion of the design documentation package is scheduled for the end of 2025, with the trains expected to commence commercial operation by 2028.

Sinara Group has announced that Ural Locomotives is prepared to start construction of new production facilities, which will initially be utilised for welding and train commissioning. Further activities include synchronising the process flows of the new facilities with those of the existing Finist EMU production. This will enable the plant to build 300 cars annually. As the group stated, Ural Locomotive’s personnel competencies will allow for the commencement of the mastering and manufacturing of the new rolling stock in a relatively short period of time.
