Poland: The plans were presented by Adam Wawrzyniak, a member of the company’s board of directors, at a meeting of the infrastructure committee of the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament.
The firm part will reportedly consist of 26 trains, with an operating speed of 250–320 km/h, according to a slide from his presentation. No information was given on the date of the tender announcement.
Since 2014, the country has been operating 20 Alstom Pendolino high-speed trains. With a maximum speed of 250 km/h, they only operate at 200 km/h as the infrastructure does not allow for higher speeds.
The Polish government has already announced that is is considering the purchase of 100–200 trains running at a speed of 250 km/h for the ambitious Central Transport Hub project (Centralny Port Komunikacyjny). The local car producer Pesa said it would develop such a train in 2022 and presented its concept. It is possible that Pesa will cooperate with Talgo on the project.
