Poland: Krzysztof Zdziarski, president of the Polish manufacturer, revealed in an interview with Rynek Kolejowy that the company intends to begin construction of a new EMU capable of an operational speed of 250 km/h.
According to Zdziarski, activities will start after its certification for operations at a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Previously, Pesa announced that two such 200 km/h trains would be sent for testing in February 2026. The rolling stock is being built for Czech private operator RegioJet (pictured).
Zdziarski noted that the 250 km/h train will feature a completely new design but will incorporate technological solutions already implemented on the RegioJet EMUs. Notably, a purchase of 100–200 dual-system trains capable of 250 km/h operations is planned within the framework of the Polish state project CPK for developing a high-speed rail network.
Meanwhile, Pesa aims to develop 300 km/h trains in cooperation with the Spanish company Talgo, with which it signed a memorandum of understanding in 2024 regarding collaboration on high-speed trains.
