Poland: In September, the three-car Series 60WE trainset was demonstrated at the TRAKO exhibition in Gdańsk. Then it was sent to the test centre in Żmigród for certification.
The EMU can operate on 25 kV AC lines with a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Its passenger capacity will be 350 people, including 160 seated. The vehicle’s weight is reported to be 10% reduced in comparison with the previous models.
In 2023 and 2024, the private operator ŁKA purchased 14 such trains at a cost of PLN 455 mln (€106.9 mln). The design of the new rolling stock was unveiled back in 2023. These EMUs will enter passenger service under the brand name Elf 3.0, with the whole fleet expected to be delivered by June 2026. Additionally, the operator can exercise an option for six more units.
Earlier this year, Pesa showed off two other Regio160 EMUs tailored for Romania. Besides, two diesel trains based on the same platform were put in operation in Ghana last year.
