Poland: The four-car set of the new Regio 200 platform was presented at the Polish manufacturer’s plant in Bydgoszcz.
At the end of the month, it is scheduled to undergo certification testing at the VUZ test centre in Velim, Výzkumný Ústav Železniční, a.s. This move marks Pesa’s first experience in developing multiple-unit rolling stock for such an operating speed: the highest current capability in Pesa’s portfolio is 160 km/h for the Regio 160 platform.
A contract for 18 low-floor Regio 200 trains was signed with Czech private operator RegioJet in 2023. Deliveries comprise 11 four-car sets measuring 105 m and seven three-car sets measuring 79 m. The former are stated to accommodate up to 300 passengers, including 36 in first class; the latter up to 200 passengers, including 20 in first class.
The rolling stock is designed for operation on 3 kV DC and 25 kV AC lines. The interior features three service classes, i.e. business, standard and economy, plus a catering area and bicycle storage spaces. As previously reported, commercial services are due to commence by late 2026 on the Prague–Brno line.
