Poland: Pesa has begun assembling its first electric multiple units designed for an operational speed of 200 km/h, according to Jan Bończyk, Director of International Sales at PESA, who spoke to Rynek Kolejowy. Assembly of two trains from the new Regio 200 platform—one three-car and one four-car set—has commenced at the company’s Bydgoszcz plant.

The two units are scheduled to be sent for certification next February at the VUZ Velim test centre. As previously reported, passenger service is expected to begin at the end of 2026 on the Prague–Brno route.

The contract for 18 low-floor trains was signed in 2023 with Czech private operator RegioJet. The order includes 11 four-car sets, each 105 m long, and seven three-car sets, each 79 m long. The four-car trains will have a capacity of up to 300 passengers, including 36 in first class, while each three-car set will accommodate up to 200 passengers, including 20 in first class.

Currently, the highest operational speed in Pesa’s portfolio is 160 km/h, offered by the Regio 160 platform.
