Brazil: The manufacturer has demonstrated the two-car trainset for the city of Teresina on its social media accounts. The video unveils the train’s exterior and interior, passenger compartment and driver’s cab along with the work of the automatic doors.

Designed to operate at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, the Prosper CITY is fitted with a 390 kW diesel engine and hydromechanical transmission. Each car has a length of 18 m and a width of 2.9 m. The vehicle can accommodate up to 360 passengers in a two-car configuration, while a three-car trainset offers a capacity for 560 people. The entrances are 1,100 mm in height to ensure comfortable boarding from high platforms.

In addition, the video caught the dispatching of the train from the plant in Caxias do Sul. According to Marcopolo Rail, the first vehicle has already been received by CFLP, the operator of the state of Piauí. Currently, the Prosper CITY is undergoing testing before its commissioning, scheduled for late August.

The contract worth BRL 99.4 mln (around $19.6 mln) was signed in autumn 2025. It provides for the delivery of two trains in a two-car configuration and one three-car unit. The rolling stock will operate on Teresina’s Line 1 spanning 17 km.

The Brazilian company, initially focused on the production of buses, entered the rail market in late 2020 with the Prosper VLT prototype. Another extraordinary project from Marcopolo Rail is its rail transport system based on the pneumatic propulsion technology.
