Romania — The local rail reform authority ARF has announced a tender for 12 hydrogen trains for the fourth time. The future contract will include a 15-year maintenance with an option to extend for another 15 years. The expected contract price varies between RON 1.6 and 2.6 bln (€320–500 mln), VAT excluded. The new tender requires a lower technical readiness of 90%, compared to 98% in the previous tenders. Two previous tenders were cancelled because there were no bids, and one because the only bid from Alsom did not comply with the tender documents.
USA — Trinity Metro, the public transport operator in Fort Worth, has ordered four more FLIRT diesel trains from Stadler. They will join the existing fleet of eight four-car vehicles from 2027. The trains will operate on the 44 km TEXRail commuter rail line between the city centre and the airport. This purchase will implement plans to reduce travel intervals to 30 minutes and extend the line by a further 3.4 km.

Hungary — The state-owned Hungarian-Austrian operator GySEV has ordered a Desiro ML EMU from Siemens Mobility, bypassing the tender process. According to GySEV, a tender is not necessary as the technical specifications exclude the participation of other manufacturers. Last year, the operator ordered two trains under the same arrangement. This spring, GySEV signed a contract with Stadler for the supply of nine five-car FLIRT EMUs.
