Ukraine: The nine-car dual-voltage set, designed for operation at a maximum speed of 200 km/h, was handed over to the national operator Ukrzaliznytsia in February. The Krukiv Railway Car Building Works carried out a scheduled overhaul after 3 million km of operation. The train is now running on the Kyiv–Dnipro route.

During the works, the train’s exterior and interior were refreshed. Repairs were also performed on the body equipment, bogies, automatic couplers, inter-car gangways, doors, retractable platforms, braking and pneumatic equipment.

In addition, damaged double-glazed windows and the windscreen were replaced, along with the flooring in vestibules; sanitary and technical equipment was repaired, as were all life-support systems and electrical equipment. The work involved not only the plant’s specialists but also suppliers in Ukraine and abroad, including Khartron-Express, Ekvator, UkrElectroApparat, and Germany’s Knorr-Bremse.

The Tarpans were built at the Krukiv works by order of UZ in 2012 as part of preparations for the UEFA European Championship. However, due to the lack of a major order, only three such trains were built.
