Japan: The manufacturer has produced a ten-car 2000 series EMU for private operator Keio, designed for 1.5 kV DC lines with a non-standard 1,372 mm gauge.

The launch is scheduled for January 2026. Keio has ordered four trainsets in total, the last of which is to be delivered in 2027.

Based on the Sustina platform with stainless steel bodies, the train features five motor cars equipped with asynchronous electric motors. Hitachi silicon carbide (SiC) traction inverters are said to allow reducing energy consumption by 20% compared to the current 7000 series trains.

Each car includes areas for push- and wheelchairs, while the middle of the train boasts space nicknamed Hidamari Space with large windows to help keep small children entertained. Although the design allows for one-person operation at GoA2, the necessary infrastructure is not yet available on the line.
