India: The Ministry of Railways invites tenderers for this project.

The country’s media report that it envisages the manufacture and production of two steel-bodied EMUs. The trains are to be fit for a 1,435 mm gauge and have a design speed of 250 km/h and an operating speed of 220 km/h.

At the same time, in June, the Ministry has already ordered similar trains from ICF, part of the national operator Indian Railways, for delivery by March 2025. It has been said that the eight-car vehicles are to be based on India’s national platform Vande Bharat for the high-speed Mumbai–Ahmedabad line project.

Previously, this line should have received trains from Hitachi Rail and Kawasaki as the project is carried out with substantial Japanese financial assistance. The EMUs are to be based on the E5 platform to operate with a speed of 320 km/h. The tender was launched in the summer of 2023, but no results have yet been announced.
