Australia: A mock-up of the interior and driver’s cab of a future train was shown in Brisbane. The presentation will allow drivers and potential passengers to evaluate the ergonomics and make their suggestions on a train that will have 20 seats for passengers with reduced mobility and four for bicycles.
The contract for the supply of 65 six-car EMUs was signed last summer. This is the first order placed under the national strategy to revive rolling stock manufacturing in Australia.

In the consortium, Hyundai Rotem will design the train, procure components, ensure technology transfer for local production and carry out warranty repairs, while Downer Rail will build the trains and production facilities in Queensland and establish a depot. The future fleet is expected to be operational in time for the 2032 Olympic Games.
