Poland: Last week, the second-class sitting coach with compartments of the 176A2 train model was demonstrated at the TRAKO exhibition in Gdansk.

The national Polish operator PKP Intercity has ordered from the local producer FPS a total of 300 coaches of several types at a cost of PLN 4.2 bln (almost €1 bln), with an option for an additional 150.

The unveiled coach includes 11 compartments, each for six passengers. The compartments, separated from the aisle with transparent sliding doors, feature information displays with a temperature regulation option but lack tables inside.

The visitors to the exhibition expressed discontent with the tough and narrow seats as well as some other controversial interior solutions. The operator has launched an online survey to reveal all the weak points. Meanwhile, FPS has noted that the design and the materials were chosen in accordance with the modern standards and approved by the customer. The manufacturer has also promised to take into account the received feedback, showing its readiness to make modifications and improve the interior.
