Austria: Three 11-car SMILE trains will be leased for a period of six years by the private operator Westbahn. The vehicles, produced at a plant in Bussnang, will be used for passenger service on a line between Vienna and Villach.
Each train will be 202 m long and be capable to carry 422 passengers. With a maximum speed of 250 km/h, they will have an acceleration of 0.77 m/s2. Electrical traction will be provided by 15 and 25 kV AC lines and 3 kV DC lines.
