Romania: According to the company, the vehicle has been granted a TSI certificate. The rolling stock repair and manufacturing plant in Pașcani is working on the refurbishment of 42 passenger coaches for the national operator CFR Călători.
The 20 coaches are to be equipped with dedicated areas for passengers with reduced mobility as well as storage spaces for bicycles and skis.
Two 2023 contracts worth €67 mln also provide for nine years of maintenance service for the fleet. The refurbished coaches, due to be ready by mid-2026, will be deployed on the routes linking Romania with Hungary and Austria.

Currently, Electroputere VFU is also overhauling 50 Siemens Desiro SR20D diesel trains, produced between 2002 and 2007. The plant has previously restored passenger coaches, diesel trains and trams for customers from Romania, Moldova, and Gabon. In 2021, the company certified a diesel train of its own production, but no Romanian operator has decided to acquire it.
