Malaysia: Since late August, two six-car Class 94 ETS3 trains have been in commercial service on the 1,000 mm line connecting Kuala Lumpur and Johor. With a maximum speed of 140 km/h, the new rolling stock covers the 285 km route in 3.5 hours.
According to the 2020 contract, the first two EMUs have been built at CRRC’s Zhuzhou plant, while the remaining eight trainsets are being assembled at the Chinese company’s facility in Batu Gajah, Malaysia. The deliveries are scheduled to be complete by early 2026.

The trains feature interiors with bistro areas and can accommodate 312 passengers, including 36 in business class. Designed to negotiate curves of 100 m, the EMUs are fitted with an intelligent driver assistance system and meet modern impact resistance and fire safety requirements. The installed 640 A⋅h batteries can support the train’s emergency operation for two hours.
