Turkiye: The national operator TCDD received the first two five-car trains after TSI certification.

At an event to mark the occasion, Adil Karaismailoglu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye, unveiled the plans for their production. According to him, a total of 56 trains will be produced by 2030, four of them by 2024 and 15 by 2025. This EMU is also planned by Türkiye to be exported to EU countries.

The national project to develop electric trains has been implemented by the state-owned producer Türasaş since 2018 in cooperation with TCDD and the Ministry of Transport. In a locally-made five-car train 324 passengers will travel at an operating speed of 160 km/h. It is reported the train can operate as a three-, four-, five- or six-car trainset. This EMU is also planned by Türkiye to be exported to EU countries.

The first electric locomotive E5000 of the domestic design was also presented in Turkiye at the end of April.
