Estonia: Märt Ehrenpreis, the Chief Technology Officer at the passenger operator Elron, reported to the media that a 6,000 km trial operation is scheduled to begin in July.
This will add to another more than 70 different tests. Currently, the Elron depot is finishing the train interior design work.
The three-car bi-mode 21Ev EMU is produced at the plant in Ostrava in February. It was manufactured based on a traditional 7Ev RegioPanter platform of partially low-floor single-deck Škoda Group trains.
In total, the Czech manufacturer is to supply Elron with 16 such vehicles for €147 mln by 2027, under the current contracts, with 11 of them designed for long-distance routes, and the others for regional transportation.
Previously this year, new EMUs by Škoda Group faced problems in another Baltic state, Latvia. Now, all the delivered rolling stock is in operation.
