Egypt: The first trainset was presented at TransMEA, the leading regional exhibition for transportation.

The Egyptian Ministry of Transport published a video showcasing the standard and business class compartments, the restaurant car, the driver’s cab, and also the toilets. For the first time, the high-speed electric train was demonstrated at InnoTrans 2024.

As noted by Siemens Mobility, the rolling stock is tailored for Egypt’s climate conditions to withstand temperatures from -25 °C to +45 °C. The trains are fitted with advanced filtering and air-conditioning systems. In addition, a variety of technical solutions have been incorporated to prevent sand from rising on the roof and hot air from entering the underfloor area.

In 2022, Siemens Mobility was awarded a contract for the delivery of 41 eight-car HSR Velaros. Each trainset can accommodate 489 passengers, including two wheelchair users. The rolling stock’s maximum operational speed is 230 km/h.
