Russia: Ural Locomotives (a subsidiary of Sinara – Transport Machines, STM, Russia) has been granted the TR CU 001/2011 certificate for the train’s serial production over a five-year period, until July 2030.
In early June, an initial batch of 60 EMUs was approved during the acceptance procedure at the manufacturer’s site. RZD and STM would sign a contract for the delivery of two five-car ES105 trainsets by the end of summer 2025, as previously announced by STM.
Based on the Finist platform, the ES105 is intended for operation on AC/DC lines. Ruselprom, Russian Electrotechnical Group, has also recently obtained certification for the asynchronous motor to equip the ES105 EMU.
Enlarging Ural Locomotives’ rolling stock portfolio, the new vehicle is going to replace the dual-system ES1 and ES1P Lastochka EMUs, formerly produced in collaboration with Siemens Mobility. STM reports that the train will accommodate 386 passengers seated and provide more dedicated space for people with reduced mobility.
