Denmark: The two-car Mireo Plus B trainset has entered passenger service on a low-traffic line between Lemvig and Thyborøn. The remaining six trains of the fleet, ordered by the regional operator Midtjyske Jernbaner in 2022, are expected to be launched in autumn. Operation under catenary is not yet planned.
The Mireo Plus B can reportedly accommodate 282 passengers, including 127 seated. Designed for a maximum speed of 140 km/h, the BEMU has a range of 120 km in battery mode.
The depot and the terminal stations are equipped with five fast charging facilities, which allow for replenishing the energy from 20% to 100% in 15 minutes. Additionally, the track has been reconstructed to increase an axle load from 17.4 to 22.5 t.
The new hybrid trains will replace the Lynette (type Y) DMUs, produced in the 1980s by German Duewag and Danish Scandia. It is worth noting that this is the first and so far the only order for the battery Mireos outside of Germany.
