Norway: The six-car EMU has arrived in the country. The train was delivered to a depot of state operator Norske Tog following tests in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Manufactured by Alstom at its Salzgitter facility in Germany, the train was officially unveiled in autumn 2024. It is due to enter commercial service from June 2026, with operational testing in Norway set to continue in the interim.
The low-floor, single-deck Coradia Stream for the Nordics, formerly designated as the Coradia Nordic, has capacity for up to 778 passengers, including 294 seated. Designed to operate at a maximum speed of 200 km/h, the train has been specifically adapted for harsh Nordic climate conditions. Onboard facilities include dedicated spaces for bicycles, pushchairs and wheelchairs. The EMUs are equipped with heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems tailored for extreme weather, and are fitted with Wabtec-supplied passenger doors.
A framework agreement for the supply of up to 200 trains, valued at €1.8 bln, was signed in 2021. To date, Norske Tog has placed an order for 55 six-car units, worth over €610 mln.
