Czech Republic: The two-car 844 DMU has been refurbished by DPOV, a subsidiary of the national operator ČD. The modernisation is ordered by the government of the Pilsen Region, which has recently extended a contract with ČD for 10 years of passenger service with this rolling stock.

The project provides for the renovation of a total of seven DMUs based on the Link platform from Polish Pesa. The fleet has been deployed since 2012, and the trains’ condition has strongly deteriorated not only due to intensive exploitation but also because of vandalism.

In addition to the replacement of the seats, the renewed RegioShark has been fitted with more power sockets (with USB-A and USB-C ports), renovated information displays, buttons, handrails, tables and waste bins. The toilets and flooring have also been refurbished, and the interiors deep cleaned. The exterior design has received a uniform look with the regional trains and buses.

The DMUs are to continue operation on their routes till the end of the current schedule. Then, since December, the refurbished RegioSharks will be redistributed to the other regional lines.
