Hungary: The testing of the six-car DDEMU2 train is conducted by Rail-Tours, a subsidiary of the national operator MAV. The vehicle has been previously examined at the VUZ Velim test centre in Czechia.
The rolling stock was designed for the Austrian operator Westbahn, which signed a leasing contract with CRRC for four such trainsets back in 2019. Initially planned for 2023, it is not currently expected to receive certification until next year. The DDEMU2 would be authorised for operation in Austria, Germany, Slovakia, and Hungary.
The train with a maximum speed of 200 km/h can accommodate 1,280 passengers, including 571 seated. The vehicle is reported to fully comply with the European TSI standards.
It is not yet known whether the DDEMU2 trains will be delivered to Hungary. However, last year the Chinese producer entered into an agreement with Acemil, Hungary, to establish a local rolling stock manufacturing facility.
