China: Two six-coach trainsets are to take a series of tests at the Dalian plant in China before shipment to the customer planned for October. Upon arrival in Malaysia, the first train will undergo on-site testing of 8,000 km, while the subsequent trains will need 5,000 km of test running.

The rolling stock is supplied under the contract signed in 2022. It provides for the delivery of 11 CR200J trainsets and 12 freight electric locomotives for the under-construction Malaysian line, East Coast Rail Link. CRRC supplies the trains in two configurations, a variant with 406 seats (including business class) or with 425 seats (without business class). The maximum operational speeds of the trains and the locomotives are 160 km/h and 80 km/h, correspondingly.

The CR200J Fuxing trains have been operating in China since 2019. Each trainset has a head motor car at one end and a driving trailer at the other end. The new-generation CR200J-C trains have earlier entered service in two Chinese regions. For Malaysia, the vehicles will be specially modified for the country’s climate, and their interiors will feature prayer areas.
