China: A new luxury tourist train named Rainbow Clouds of the South: Kunming set off on its maiden 10-day journey between the two countries on 3 December.
It’s a joint venture between CRRC, touristic Kunming Cultural Tourism, and China Railway Kunming (part of the national China Railway operator). The 16-car set was built at CRRC’s Tangshan plant.

Four coaches house 24 three-berth compartments of 12m² each, with convertible beds that turn into sofas, plus en-suite bathrooms and showers. Eight more coach feature 48 four-berth compartments of 10m² with two-tier beds and shared showers and toilets.

The consist also includes a standard sleeper coach, a dining car with 54 seats and kitchen, a power van, and a multi-function coach with panoramic windows for meals, workshops, and events.
