Malaysia: Two six-car Class 94 ETS3 electric trains arrived at KTMB’s Batu Gajah depot in late April. If operational tests notch up success, the vehicles are to begin commercial service in August on Malaysia’s 1,000 mm gauge network.
The first two trains were manufactured at CRRC’s Zhuzhou plant in China under the 2020 contract, with the remaining eight trainsets to be locally assembled at CRRC’s Batu Gajah facility. The final vehicle is scheduled for delivery in early 2026.

Designed for maximum speeds up to 140 km/h, each train accommodates 312 passengers, with 36 of them in business-class. The EMUs feature an intelligent driver assistance system, which meet modern impact resistance and fire safety requirements. The company says that 640 A⋅h batteries can support the EMU’s emergency lighting and ventilation system for two hours.
