Saudi Arabia: The national operator SAR received the fleet of 18 trainsets in 2011–2016. The rolling stock was delivered by the Spanish manufacturer under three contracts valued at €305 mln in total.
The Riyadh–Dammam line is served by 12 push-pull trains, with two locomotives kept in reserve. Each trainset comprises a head diesel locomotive at one end, four intermediate coaches, and a driving trailer at the other end. The vehicles with stainless steel bodies can accelerate up to 180 km/h and operate at temperatures up to +55 °C. Their systems are additionally protected to prevent sand ingress. The interiors feature first-, second-class and VIP accommodation, as well as a luggage area, a buffet and a prayer room.

The night train has two locomotives at each end and 13 intermediate coaches, providing a capacity for 337 passengers. The day train includes two locomotives and nine coaches, which can accommodate 444 passengers.
