The four-car trainset was delivered from the plant in Beasain, Spain, to Nässjö, Sweden. Before its launch in 2026, it is to have a trial run of at least 20,000 km on the national network.
This modification of the Nordic platform is adapted to the weather conditions in Scandinavia, with temperatures ranging from -40 to +40 °C. The maximum speed depends on the traction mode: 200 km/h when powered by overhead line and 140 km/h when powered by biodiesel.
One such train is being tested now at the VUZ Velim test centre in the Czech Republic and another in a climate chamber in Vienna.
A €250 mln contract was signed between the Spanish manufacturer and the leasing company AB Transitio in 2021. It comprises the delivery of 20 four-car electric multiple units and eight three-car biodiesel-electric hybrid units to be deployed in four Swedish regions. EMUs will be the first to be delivered.
