UK: The passenger operator has posted interior images of the first and second classes, luggage storage, and wheelchair spaces.
The fleet of 33 Class 810 Aurora bi-mode trains is to be put into service gradually between 2025 and 2026. Initially, the launch was scheduled before the end of 2022, but the deadlines were postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ordered in 2019, the €456 mln five-car trains have 47 first-class and 254 second-class seats and are designed to operate at a speed of 200 km/h.
The aluminium-bodied DEMUs are manufactured at the Newton Aycliffe factory in the UK. Under the contract, Hitachi Rail has invested about €125 mln in the introduction of new painting and welding facilities to the site.
