UK: Alstom has posted a video in its social nets showcasing the system’s check on one of Pendolino trains, which was refurbished in the country.

Such trains can reach peak speeds of 200 km/h and tilt to an angle of 8°, so that they can travel curves 20% faster. The tilting system was developed back in the late 1970s by Fiat Ferroviaria, acquired by Alstom in 2000. Similar technology can be found in Talgo trains and is widespread among Japanese manufacturers.

A fleet of 56 Pendolino EMUs, British Class 390, underwent refurbishment till June in the Alstom Transport Technology Centre at Widnes. The corresponding £117 mln (€137.3 mln) contract was signed with First Trenitalia in 2020.
